03:18 pm - The results are in~
I took my test this morning. That testing center is sort of intense--a photo ID is not enough. They actually take your fingerprint as well to verify that you are the right person. It's INSANE. But regardless, I took my pharmacy tech certification test.
( The results... )

Just about to turn in for the night while watching this year's Catherine Tate special again and I have to say that it is effing brilliant. One, Tate as Nan is classic, and Tennant as the Ghost of Christmas Present is just plain...... sexy.
He comes in dancing to the theme of Ghost Busters, acting like a hipster in skinny jeans, and he's just so much fun to watch with Nan. The Time Lordyness comes through when he's trying to scold her for being horrible to everyone. And he does behave effeminate, but the sexiness just can't be taken away, except when he's going on about risotto, in which case he's just hilarious. Also he speaks in his scottish accent which I could listen to all day. (He says "I'm sorry" XD)
I have to give Tate props for writting something so funny. She's funnier than most men in comedy put together; I hope she comes back to tv soon. I love her as Donna but I want to see her career fly even higher - that her off-air show can be given a Christmas special is frankly amazing.
Going back to work tomorrow, I hope it's not too cold. I shouldn't be too tired but I should definitely sleep now. Christmas weekend felt busy but I'm glad today was pretty relaxing to make up for it. Night~

07:45 pm - Whew...
Yesterday was interesting--that whole driving to work thing, I mean. Ya know, considering that my city actually made the national news for having three times the average snowfall for December, totaling over thirty inches of snow. The first blizzard we had was the one that hit when
kaitodoushi and I were trying to watch Torchwood, and cut our viewing short. The second one started on Wednesday, and stopped...yesterday. GO IOWA!
Tomorrow is my certification test. Need to get my paperwork in order for it, since I need to be there at nine-thirty AM. After dinner, I am claiming my kitchen table (the family has graciously agreed to go hang out in the basement for the night) and I am just going to review for the rest of the evening. I think I've got most of the important stuff down, but...gaaaah I am so nervous that I'm going to freeze up and forget stupid things @_@ Wish me luck plz!
That's actually why I used this icon for this post--I thought it was appropriate ^_~
Furthermore, I have found the perfect study music: Requiem by John Rutter. Aside from it being an utterly gorgeous choral work, for some reason the minute I put that on my mp3 player I started nailing answers left and right. So it is now my study music \o/
Also, happiness is opening your car insurance bill...and thinking to yourself, "Wow, that's less than it was last time!" Like...somewhere between fifty and seventy-five dollars less, whoo!
All right. Study time. I know right away if I passed or not. There will be a post tomorrow, for better or for worse. Hopefully for the better. Off I go to save the day! *toodles away into the sunset*

I think fate is going to play a cruel joke on me. I am in WAY too much anticipation for the second part of "The End of Time" that it is necessary that I either die or miss it in a similar fashion. Remember how I used to say I don't want to die before I see the end of Conan? Well this is 500 hundred million percent beyond that.
So onto the spoilers:
( Doctor Who )
So today I also had the luck to see Sherlock Holmes as well. And... I think my brain is being overloaded with the sheer amount of awesome put together. *the part where RDJ!Holmes licked the rock reminded me too much of Ten* *flails*
The only thing you need to know about Sherlock Holmes is that you must see it. I think all the actors did a great job. The story and action were engaging as was the mystery. And that's all I'll say on that besides envying Rachel her clothes >D
And on that note I should head to bed. Expect Hoshi out tomorrow if all goes to plan~

11:54 pm - Happy Holidays!
Greetings! Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Kickin' Kwanzaa, Cherished Cthulu Day, and...as I read in a satirical newspaper sometime long ago, Happy Atheist Children Get Presents Day? *dodges thrown things*
Welcome to the snowiest Christmas on record for our area! It started on Wednesday night, dumped a few inches on us then--bad enough that I wound up not having to go in for my evening shift. Continued Thursday afternoon/evening, and was bad enough that most of the churches in the area canceled Christmas Eve (and presumably Christmas Day) masses. I have pictures of the snowdrifts around my house, but I haven't uploaded them yet, since they were taken with my NEW DIGITAL CAMERA and I haven't gotten the software installed yet :D
Last night was Christmas Eve, and at my house we like to do different things for Christmas Eve dinner. We used to do appetizers. We did deli meats and chips a couple of years, and last year we made homemade soup. This year we did FONDUE! We'd never done it before! We got salmon, shrimp, scallops, and steak, and cut 'em all up and turned on our new fondue pot to heat up the oil. It was fun! We were at the table for probably an hour and a half (we each got two skewers, so we could only cook two pieces at a time), but it was great! We laughed and talked and just relaxed. Definite success!
We also open a couple of presents on Christmas Eve--Bug and I open our ones to each other, and then we always get new jammies. This year, mine were all stripey! *admires the PJ pants I may or may not have been wearing for well over twenty-four hours now* And I got new fuzzy socks, so I may once again be KITTY-FEET! (
kaitodoushi and
raerae639 will get that joke, no one else will XD), and my sister got me a DS game that consists of a hundred and one mini-games. You will never see me again.
Also, Mom thought it would be amusing to get my sister and I matching shirts. As my sister put it, "What are we, twelve?" Didn't stop us from getting a picture that will only make it onto this LJ if I black out my face first because OMFG the camera hates me so very very much bawwww ;o;
Today was a true White Christmas, with snow on the ground and more falling. Got the traditional candy and little gifts in our stockings, and then we maneuvered our way out to the living room where our tree is. Got some clothes, two Torchwood books (glee!), the new Legend of Zelda game for the DS (triple glee!), a Wii Fit (even more glee!), the aforementioned digital camera (it's blue! BLUE, I TELLS YA!), aaaaaand a new mp3 player (MASSIVE DANCES OF HAPPY)! I asked for an eight gig. Got sixteen. My parents are amazing :D
Also got the traditional onslaught of DVDs for the family, including the new Star Trek movie, which a couple of people have told me I need to watch and possibly write things for. If all goes well on Monday, I'll be back at the keyboard and in full fanfic mode come oh-one-oh-one-one-oh :D
It's still a snowy mess out there, bad enough that my sister (who was supposed to work tonight) called in for the first time in six years. She said that the person she talked to said that four other people had done the same. I can't blame them--it's awful. I have pictures to be posted eventually--one has my dad and the snowblower in the shot for reference.
Best moments from family conversation during the opening of presents? When we were opening our stockings, I pulled out a little bag of wrapped candies. It was labeled Santa's Sack.
ME: Santa's Sack? ...but there's only one.
BUG: That's his left one, ya know.
ME: His right one was lost in a tragic reindeer accident.
.........and then my sister had the exact same candy in her stocking XDD The other one was while we were opening under-the-tree presents. Both Mom and Bug got an external hard-drive. Here was the commentary that accompanied those presents...
BUG: *to Mom* Is your hard-drive red?
MOM: Yup.
BUG: ...like your blood!
DAD: Well, that was a weird thing to say.
BUG: *opens her hard-drive* Hey, mine's black!
DAD: ...like your SOUL!
ILU, family ♥ I also told my Aunt Marie that my dad was out mowing the driveway.
Tomorrow I am supposed to go to work. We'll see what the roads have to say about that.
But l'anyhoodle, thus ends my Christmas babble. I hope everyone had a glorious holiday and is warm and safe and happy. Much love to all of you!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ *runs around and hugs every single person on my f-list*

Merry X-mas everyone :) *X clearly standing for whatever commercialized [non]religious holiday you celebrate*
I can't believe it's already almost 4 in the morning. My youngest brother is doing his yearly ritual of playing the coolest wii game he got. This year it's Call of Duty World at War. It's pretty awesome to watch, kind of like a movie even. I already read through the two volumes of PLUTO I received (3&4).
I'm glad that this was a much more relaxed Christmas. Kaachan was so relaxed, meaning if she is, then we are. Everything went smoothly this year so that was also nice. The food came out fabulous so we're all pretty full.
I think this is the nicest x-mas we've had in a long while.
The stash:
MANGA: PLUTO Volumes 3 & 4
DVD: Bleach Season 2 and 3
DVD: Case Closed the Last Wizard of the Century
Clothes: Jacket, skirt, shirt, blazer
Overall, pretty damn pleased :D
Now tomorrow is Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Who time XDDDDDD
02:22 am - Chiristmas: Noche Buena Gags
I just can't seem to sleep today and I have no idea why... I'm not sure if it's the Noche Buena hype or the excitement for tomorrow's activities...
Funny things happen today, like the keso de bola incident for instance, here's how it goes:
Me and my cousin were cutting up keso de bola (mind you it's the first time we've actually came near one or eat one) when he took a slice and ate it hole with the red thing intact.
Mycco (my cousin): Yum... wonder what the red thing is, it kinda tastes plain and gummy, kinda sticks to my teeth too... anu un chewing gum?? >.<
Me: Ewan no idea...
As I was about to pick off the then unknown red thing my grandmother entered holding the xmas ham, curious I asked what the thing was
Lola: it's wax. After the ball of cheese is made they dip it in wax.
I couldn't control my laughter after that and my cousin couldn't stop barfing ^^.
We sound really deprived LoL

08:44 pm - No, Usagi, They're Laughing WITH You
I just found the most hysterical recap of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. It's from April 2005, but if I'd been drinking milk at the time, it would've shot out my nose. SPOILER ALERT:
Websnark: "Oh, Quit Playing Your Damned Harp Already, Princess"
As a PGSM fan, I admit these criticisms are valid (or at least funny); despite the series' quirks, I enjoyed it so much that I've been role playing Usagi for almost a year. Besides, for me, it's not just despite the eccentricities that I love it, it's because of them. It's easier to appreciate the show if your J-drama palate's unrefined, like mine, but the story's refreshing and these characters (for the most part!) have a lot of heart.
Of course, we can always laugh about Mio's giant mouth, Endymion's shoulder tassles, Beryl's cleavage, turtle!Motoki, ZOMG THE PRINCESS, and the gazillion times they sing "C'est La Vie". Enjoy!
Note: As of last Saturday, I've lost a total of 81.6 lbs!

WHOOT!! LOOK AT THE ICON XDDD
I saw it on F!S and tracked down where it was from. Apparently there's a very big All I want for X-mas icon vault :D
So lots of Doctor Who specials on tv today, and then there were lots of Who related secrets on F!S, hence the icon find ^^ (It's all sounding very circular now.) So I'm a very happy Who!Fan right now :D *THE HD IS SOOOOO SHINY*
Oh! So who saw the new banner on top of the website? Eh~Eh? Whatcha think? It reveals that 1) There haven't been any good 30 Rock lines applicable to Conan and 2) No good manga panels suitable for any 30 Rock lines. So I went with my number 2 pick, the main picture from the Movie 14 poster and a Lady Gaga song :D
More stuffs to do tomorrow so I'll turn in soon.
*waves!*

07:47 am - Soooo....
I'm looking at doing Conan fic again, as I recently caught up with the series (movie 13 lol wut is all I have to say about the last 10 minutes or so of it.)
So, of course, I have a bit of a dilemma. I don't want to drop all the fics I have, because they all have been waiting very....very...long...orz...for new chapters, buuut....on the other hand, I'm looking back on all these fics with a critical artist's eye and cringing and just wanting to rewrite all of it it sucks cause we do that. But that's also a lot of work.
IDK.
I suppose I should just write some one-offs, but I don't even know what about.

12:46 pm - I am small...and of no account...
So this guy was supposed to come to the house and fix our washing machine at ten o'clock this morning. It's almost noon-thirty, and I'm still waiting. I really would like to take a shower before I have to go to work at four, ya know. But I know the minute I go to do something else, he's going to show up. Unimpressed.
So I finally did something I'd been meaning to do for a while - I cleaned out some old icons that I don't use anymore. There are a few others I probably could have gotten rid of, but eh, I still like them. And then I promptly turned around and uploaded a bunch of new ones! ...that may or may not be primarily Torchwood... *koff*
Speaking of which,
kaitodoushi finished watching it on Wednesday before we left for Sioux Falls and the Rifftrax show (more on that in a minute). And when I say that she finished Torchwood, I mean that she's gotten through the end of season two. Not CoE. And her reaction to the end of "Exit Wounds" was exactly the same as mine was the first two times I watched it: total sobbing. Like...it sounds almost like you're laughing sobbing. I didn't sob...but I cried. AGAIN. STOP DOING THAT TO ME! *fist-shake*
So yes, I can has converted friend to campy British sci-fi show, whoo! I also may or may not have promised Kat that if/when I pass my certification test at the end of the month, and I am reimbursed by my employer, I might or might not use part of that reimbursement to invest in some Doctor Who DVDs.
magic_truth, STOP LAUGHING.
After we finished TW, we went up for the Rifftrax show in Sioux Falls. On the way there (and back), we listened to a couple of TW audio play thingies. "Lost Souls" was cheesy in the classic sci-fi manner. "The Dead Line" has Ianto being the cutest thing in the history of cuteness, so we were happy. SHAMELESS FANGIRLING FOR THE WIN!
( Cut to keep this entry from being an attack on your f-lists~ )
...GAH!
On the bright side, I am now the proud holder of the mp3 of the Rifftones new #1 hit song, "Sparkly Vampires" :D :D :D I downloaded it from their site, but you can also hear it over here if you're interested. It's pretty sweet \o/
...SERIOUSLY REPAIR GUY WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU??
12:03 am - Diary #424
Wow @____@ - was really tired when I got home that while listening to Doctor Who and scanlating Conan (still V__V) I fell asleep!! For THREE HOURS!! Luckily I'm going in to work late tomorrow. Work has been nice, next week should be super nice because it is indeed a short week because of X-mas ^^ - but somehow I've just been so tired anyway. And right now I have the pleasure of listening to southern accents and crazy married people in A Period of Adjustment. The father-in-law is whipped and just makes his son-in-law's life torture. Really the whole plot is the fault of the mother-in-law unable to shut her trap >.> As for the 2nd married couple in the movie, they'd get over that just by talking. But our tree is up, and Christmas is shaping up to be nice. Can't believe it's already almost a year since I finished school ^^
Edit: If anyone is curious, I am not doing cards this year but if you send me something, my address is still the same and I'll send you something back ^_____^
